Mark is ignorant of the fact that Pewdiepie’s been courting an alt-right fanbase and what the shooter ‘wants’. The shooter wants to spread Islamophobia and getting people to subscribe to a xenophobe like Pewdiepie and thus normalize this kind of thing accomplishes that. No, Pewdiepie didn’t cause the shooting, but he’s not some sweet innocent cinnamon roll who’s being used to cause division. He’s a n-word spewing jackass who was once embraced by a Neo Nazi news organization as having videos that they viewed as “unapologetically full Nazi” and who is regularly racist, sexist and antisemitic.
Let’s stop pretending Pewds is a random good guy the shooter happened to be into. He’s been courting an alt right audience for a good chunk of his YouTube career and that’s why alt right shooters are into him. This isn’t random, he’s not ‘being used to cause division’, he made this bed and now he has to lie in it.
Or to put it in terms the alt reich fans of his will understand: facts don’t care about your feelings.
